Eyeball Media Enterprises is a market leading, multi-faceted entertainment media company boasting a swag of industry firsts and innovations.
Our company is the only stable to publish titles – scenestr and FROOTY – in all five major territories. We retain an interest in HEAVY Magazine and manage its printing and distribution logistics in Austraia.
IN THE BEGINNING
Our story started in 1993 with Scene Magazine, a pace-setting and now iconic Queensland street press title. The mastehead was rebranded (with the addition of 3 letters) as scenestr in 2014 and is now Australia's largest street press. We publish separate titles in NSW, VIC, QLD, WA and South Australia.
scenestr is the only title to publish in all five major territories. A separate edition for each territory lands on the streets of Australia every four weeks. Each edition enjoys the widest geographical footprint in market. In NSW, for example, scenestr is the only title in class to reach Wollongong, Blue Mountains, Central Coast and Newcastle.
We have been privileged to be chosen as media partner for many hundreds of festivals, club and cultural events.
We published Junior, Australia's highest circulating street mag, last CAB audited at 81,450 copies (from a high of 140,000 copies). In the early 2000s we published Scene Magazine in Victoria. At that time, there were more Scene Magazines on the streets of Australia than any other street press title.
Today we are a digital-facing media company publishing scenestr to a national audience featuring the latest in entertainment and the arts.
Between 1996 and 2003, we operated Café Scene, a 24-hour/ 7-day operation on the corner of Ann and Brunswick Streets, in the heart of eclectic Fortitude Valley. Café Scene was part of the internet café revolution, serving as a ticket outlet long before ticketing was commercialised and digitised. Six huge street display windows showcased recent releases in music and film. We also served a mean nachos and gained a reputation as chess haven. Every year, there are calls for the café's return.
In 2018 we opened Daily Planet Café at 228 Wickham Street, Fortitude Valley.
Other highlights have included securing national treasure and music guru Ian 'Molly' Meldrum to write for Junior, and none of our clients can forget our 3-year corporate suite at Suncorp Stadium for the Brisbane Roar!
